About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Gecko Hospitality. As a key member of our culinary team, you will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of food quality and excellence in our full-service breakfast restaurant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Quality and Safety: Ensure that all food products meet our high standards of quality and safety, and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Kitchen Management: Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, including purchasing, storage, inventory, and food preparation.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and train the Heart of House team on cooking methods, preparation techniques, plate presentation, portion control, and food cost analysis.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Head Chef to develop and implement new menu items, and to maintain a positive and productive team environment.
  • Cost Control: Monitor and control food and labor costs through requisition processes, organized storage, and waste control.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service and ensure that all guests have a positive dining experience.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2+ years of operations experience and 1+ year of leadership experience in food, beverage, and safety.
  • Skills: Excellent basic math skills, proficiency in cash register and Point of Sale system operation, and ability to communicate effectively in the predominant language(s) of the restaurant's trading area.
  • Availability: Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods (up to 10 hours) and handle a weekly workload of 45 to 50 hours.
