POSITION SUMMARY:


The Environmental Services Associate is responsible for executing comprehensive cleaning and maintenance tasks across various facilities, including residential areas, healthcare settings, and academic buildings.


SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED:
No supervisory responsibilities.

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED:


Utilizes a range of commercial-grade and lightweight maintenance tools, including automatic floor scrubbers, waxers, buffers, polishers, and vacuum systems; employs wet and dry mops, dusters, sponges, and various trash collection vehicles; operates ladders and hand tools such as hammers and screwdrivers.


TYPICAL DUTIES:
The incumbent may be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Operating diverse housekeeping and floor maintenance machinery to strip, wax, and polish surfaces. Conducting mopping, sweeping, and dusting activities.
  • Implementing cleaning and sanitization protocols by fogging areas and scrubbing floors, walls, furniture, and fixtures with disinfectants.
  • Cleaning walls, ceilings, and staircases; maintaining overhead fixtures like vents and lights; vacuuming carpets, upholstery, and drapes; dusting and polishing furniture; changing linens.
  • Removing, washing, and reinstalling window treatments; cleaning windows both inside and out.
  • Disposing of waste materials in designated containers; collecting litter from assigned zones; loading refuse into collection vehicles.
  • Sanitizing large waste receptacles and cleaning various surfaces, including kitchens and dining areas.
  • Performing miscellaneous custodial tasks such as relocating furniture, securing door hardware, maintaining elevator tracks, replacing light bulbs, and snow removal.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness and organization of storage areas and equipment; executing other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess the ability to comprehend and follow verbal instructions. The role requires continuous standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Must be capable of handling heavy and medium-weight materials and equipment.

Exposure to refuse, dust, cleaning agents, and odors is expected in both indoor and outdoor environments; occasional contact with infectious materials may occur.
