San Mateo, California, United States Verkada Full time
About Us

Verkada stands as the leading cloud-based B2B physical security platform globally. We uniquely provide six integrated product lines — video surveillance systems, access management, environmental monitoring, alarm systems, workplace solutions, and intercoms — all unified under a single cloud-based software framework.

Our platform is designed for simplicity and scalability, enabling organizations to gain real-time insights into factors affecting the safety and comfort of individuals in their environments. This empowers them to take swift actions to mitigate security threats, workplace challenges, and costly inefficiencies.

Founded in 2016, Verkada has experienced rapid growth, boasting 16 offices across three continents, over 1,700 full-time employees, and serving more than 20,000 customers in over 70 countries.

Our Mission
At Verkada, we are redefining the concept of physical safety. We develop advanced security cameras that detect movements, identify threats, and ensure the safety of individuals and locations. By integrating cutting-edge software with innovative hardware, we are transforming an industry that has remained stagnant for decades. We currently support thousands of clients, but this is merely the beginning. Our vision is to create security systems that are as seamless and modern as the organizations they protect, establishing our enterprise solution as a benchmark for both business and public security.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Integrate security measures into our applications throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Promote software security best practices through training and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to enhance the security of Verkada's offerings and exceed customer expectations.
  • Investigate innovative solutions that facilitate business operations rather than hinder them.
  • Work alongside other engineering leaders to define, communicate, and execute on objectives, priorities, and processes.
  • Establish security tools and secure defaults to uphold software security best practices.
  • Conduct architecture analysis, threat modeling, and technical design reviews of sensitive features and infrastructure.
  • Develop and manage a bug bounty program.
  • Assess and recommend solutions for security vulnerabilities identified through tools, third-party evaluations, and bug bounties.
  • Collaborate with the CISO and security team to enhance the broader Verkada security program.
  • Share your security expertise with other teams internally and externally through conferences and publications.
  • Assist fellow engineers in enhancing their security knowledge and reasoning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Extensive experience with AWS, GCP, or other cloud service providers.
  • 5+ years of experience in roles such as security engineer, software engineer, site reliability engineer, or security consultant.
  • Comprehensive understanding of security vulnerabilities, exploits, attacks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Passion for learning about new security products, features, and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in coding; capable of writing production-level Python/Go code, conducting security peer reviews, building proofs of concept, or creating automation scripts.
  • Exceptional collaborative abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with various aspects of security, including Security Development Lifecycle, Threat Modeling, Architecture Analysis, Technical Design Review, Security Code Review, Open Policy Agent, and SIEM.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Unlimited paid time off along with 11 company-wide paid holidays.
  • Wellness allowance.
  • Commuter benefits.
  • Daily healthy lunches and dinners provided.
  • Generous parental leave policy and fertility benefits.

Compensation Transparency

At Verkada, we aim to attract and retain top talent, compensating them in a manner that fairly reflects their contributions to the company. We consider various factors when determining starting pay, including work location, candidate skills and experience, market demands, and internal equity. This estimate may vary based on these factors, and the actual starting annual base salary could be above or below this range. Additionally, this estimate is just one part of Verkada's total rewards package, which may include other forms of compensation based on the role, such as sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

Equal Opportunity Employment

Verkada is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all individuals. All applicants will be treated without regard to race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, marital status, veteran status, pregnancy, or any other basis prohibited by applicable law.
