Position Overview

The Clinical Counselor plays a crucial role in delivering a range of therapeutic services within the organization, ensuring high-quality care and consistency for clients throughout their recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts thorough screenings and evaluations of potential clients prior to their admission, utilizing effective intervention techniques and assessment skills.
  • Facilitates appropriate referrals as necessary and provides initial support and orientation to newly admitted clients, aligning with the program's philosophy.
  • Performs comprehensive Psychosocial Assessments to identify client needs and presenting issues, summarizing findings in an integrated written assessment.
  • Maintains on-call availability during weekends and nights for client support.
  • Leads both group and individual therapy sessions in accordance with established program standards.
  • Documents client progress and participation daily, ensuring all care is conducted in a professional and therapeutic manner.
  • Develops and implements personalized recovery plans for each client, incorporating measurable goals and objectives.
  • Utilizes information from various assessments to create individualized recovery plans within 24 hours of client admission.
  • Regularly reviews and updates recovery plans through written documentation during clinical staffing meetings.
  • Assists clients with discharge planning, providing necessary referrals and directing them to continuing care programs.
  • Delivers educational lectures on addiction and relapse prevention, utilizing appropriate teaching aids and ensuring the content reflects current trends in the field.
  • Maintains clear communication regarding client progress with facility staff and referral sources through accurate record-keeping.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant standards and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Acts as a representative of the organization in community outreach and educational settings as needed.

Administrative Duties:

  • Engages in quality improvement task groups and collaborates with insurance and managed care companies for client planning and reviews.
  • Coordinates transportation and ancillary services for clients, ensuring safety and compliance with all regulations.
  • Participates in training sessions and meetings as required, fostering a collaborative environment with therapy and administrative staff.
