Bakery Operations Assistant Job Description

At United Family Services Inc, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Bakery Operations Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our bakery department, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our bakery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Guest Relations: Provide exceptional customer service to our guests, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience in our bakery.
  • Department Support: Assist the Department Manager in leading the department, including ordering, merchandising, and maintaining department conditions.
  • Team Development: Assist in interviewing, training, scheduling, performance, and productivity of all department team members.
  • Communication: Assist with communication of information distribution to the entire department.
  • Leadership: Demonstrate effective leadership skills by managing time and delegation.
  • Division Concepts: Support and execute division concepts and programs.
  • Financial Goals: Contribute to executing and meeting financial goals.
  • Quality and Consistency: Ensure quality and consistent product availability and solutions to our guests.
  • Asset Management: Assist with safeguarding, controlling, and monitoring all department assets.
  • Safe Work Environment: Practice safe work habits and maintain a high level of store cleanliness and organization.
  • Department Systems: Ensure department systems and processes are utilized consistently and correctly.
  • Coaching and Development: Assist with the coaching and development of team members as necessary.
  • Inventory and Reporting: Assist with coordinating the inventory process and reporting.
  • Department Issues: Assist with taking care of all department issues in the event of the absence of the Department Manager.
  • Food Safety: Ensure that Food Safety Procedures are adhered to.
  • Merchandising: Assist in proper merchandising of products by understanding and implementing schematics and merchandising of advertised items.
  • Regulations: Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, and company policies.
  • Bakery Duties: Assist with all bakery duties as needed, such as receiving, cleaning, freezer pulls, proofing, baking, decorating, slicing, and packaging.
  • Conflict Management: Demonstrate good conflict management skills.
Key Requirements:
  • Age: Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Communication: Ability to work and communicate with all levels of management and subordinates in a professional manner.
  • Self-Motivation: Ability to self-motivate, problem-solve, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Physical Demands: Be able to perform all other physical aspects of the position, including but not limited to bending, squatting, standing, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and walking.
  • Standing: Ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 4 hours).
  • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. and push and pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Freezer Work: Ability to work within a freezer for up to 15 minutes.
  • Technical Skills: Must possess technical skills to perform basic math and computer tasks (Word, Excel, and Email).
  • Work Pace: Ability to work at a fast pace, but efficient and controlled manner.
  • Certification: Must maintain Certified Food Safety Manager certification.
  • Language: Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Flexibility: Must be flexible to work various hours/shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Supervisory Coaching: Ability to accept supervisory coaching related to performance, work habits, and attitude.
  • Teamwork: Ability to function as a team member and get along with others.
