Qualifications:
A minimum of a Two-Year Associate Degree in Child Care/Education or 60 college hours, including at least three (3) college credit hours in early childhood, child development, or related fields, along with experience in programs catering to young children and their families. Bi-lingual skills are preferred.

Job Objective:
To support the lead teacher in delivering exceptional early education and care.
Key Responsibilities:

- Create a nurturing and developmentally appropriate learning atmosphere for children in the Early Education program.
- Implement a curriculum that caters to the individual needs of children, embracing their unique abilities, talents, cultural backgrounds, and languages.
- Collaborate in maintaining the classroom environment by preparing materials for daily activities, overseeing the sign-in/sign-out process, and actively participating in classroom routines.
- Support the execution of a process-oriented curriculum.
- Foster communication and build relationships with families.
- Attend and engage in parent and staff meetings, as well as training sessions.
- Conduct at least two home visits and two parent conferences annually.
- Utilize appropriate guidance and discipline techniques.
- Maintain constant visual and auditory awareness of children to ensure their safety in various settings.
- Collaborate with colleagues in lesson planning and record-keeping.
- Uphold client confidentiality in accordance with established policies.
- Attend all required meetings, including designated evening sessions.
- Demonstrate flexibility in working alternative hours or at different locations as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.


Employment Terms:
The PreK Kinder Prep Teacher Assistant position is a nine (9) month role, with salary and work year determined annually by the Board of Education.

Required Testing:
A post-offer employment medical examination and essential functions test (EFT) are mandatory.

Work Environment:

The employee typically works indoors with minimal temperature fluctuations and may encounter risks of injury or illness. Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals may occur. The noise level is generally moderate but can occasionally be loud. The job involves approximately 5% sitting, 50% standing, and 45% walking.


Physical Requirements:

The employee frequently stands, walks, uses hands and fingers, and communicates verbally. Bending at the neck, climbing, balancing, reaching, crouching, squatting, stooping, and kneeling are also frequently required. The employee must be able to lift, carry, or move up to 50 pounds.


Evaluation:
Performance will be assessed by the Principal using the Early Education Teacher Assistant Evaluation criteria.
