Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of professionalism, expertise, and dedication to supporting the wellbeing and inclusion of students in a school setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide early intervention programs and support for cohorts of students with specific needs or vulnerabilities.
  • Deliver Tier 1 & 2 intervention programs in response to identified themes.
  • Manage cases of students who require coordination of wellbeing and/or inclusion support via facilitation of referrals, collection of relevant information, and provision of summaries and profiles that support students' education.
  • Extend supports to parents when it pertains to a student's health and wellbeing.
  • Provide student-centered counselling and goal-centered interventions by undertaking assessment, co-developing plans, and making referrals on behalf of students as needed.
  • Support students by role modelling positive interpersonal skills and encouraging an environment of support and inclusion.
  • Support teachers by providing insight into student wellbeing needs, including strategies for engagement.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough written records of activities and client contact while maintaining security and confidentiality in line with relevant legislation and departmental policy and procedure.
  • Complete comprehensive assessments of student need to inform interventions, including referrals to internal supports and external support services.
  • Communicate with relevant staff and management and escalate critical cases of student wellbeing to senior supports and management for risk assessment, guidance, and collaborative management.
  • Undertake ongoing professional development in line with annual PDP goals.
  • Prioritize and champion child safety by committing to Child Safe Standards, abiding by profession-based codes of practice and ethics, and ensuring knowledge of responsibilities is maintained through Child Safety Training.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and provide support to students, teachers, and other staff members.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to student wellbeing and inclusion.
Working Arrangements

This is a full-time position, with a probationary period of 12 months. The successful applicant will be required to work in a school setting, with regular contact with students, teachers, and other staff members.
