Position Overview

This role may necessitate full-time attendance during school vacation periods, with compensation provided for such attendance.

The position within the educational support framework involves executing tasks in alignment with established guidelines, accepted practices, and institutional policies under the supervision of designated authorities. Responsibilities may include coordinating activities of other support staff within the educational environment.

The role is designed to assist in delivering educational services to students, ensuring that duties do not overlap with those defined for teaching staff as per the relevant educational legislation. Supervision of students may be required, either individually or in small groups, under controlled conditions where a teacher retains overall responsibility.

Qualifications and certifications may be necessary for this position, typically not exceeding three years of experience, with the understanding that certain roles, such as Registered Nurse, fall outside this classification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver routine assistance to educators, including support in planning student activities.
  • Facilitate communication between educators and parents.
  • Engage with teachers regarding routine student matters and other responsibilities.
  • Provide basic physical care and wellbeing support for students, including assistance with toileting, meals, and mobility.
  • Support students in understanding fundamental tasks and information.
  • Address immediate behavioral issues concerning specific students in accordance with school policies.
  • Offer basic supervision for individuals or small groups of students within a classroom setting.
  • Assist educators in coordinating educational programs, either independently or with minimal oversight, including managing the work of a team of aides and liaising with external support service providers.
  • Provide medical support to students under specific guidelines, following appropriate training.
  • Facilitate specialized communication support for students and educators, including sign language and braille.
