The role of the Assistant Principal encompasses various critical responsibilities aimed at enhancing the educational environment and supporting student success.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations

  • Overseeing the management of substitute educators.
  • Coordinating the school timetable.
  • Planning and organizing school-wide events.

Student Wellbeing

  • Ensuring adequate support systems are in place for students requiring adjustments, including those funded through educational support resources.
  • Leading the Learning Support Coordinator to enhance student support.
  • Collaborating with allied health professionals and families to address the wellbeing and mental health needs of students.
  • Providing professional development for educators working with students with additional needs.

Disability Inclusion Initiatives

  • Directing the implementation of the Disability Inclusion model within the school.
  • Coordinating the efforts of the Disability Inclusion Coordinator.
  • Delivering training to staff regarding Disability Inclusion practices.
  • Offering guidance on the Disability Inclusion Profile for selected students.
  • Facilitating the development and execution of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students within the Disability Inclusion framework.
  • Engaging with parents and health professionals to provide comprehensive support for students.
  • Managing the annual Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) for the school.
  • Chairing regular Student Support Group meetings.
  • Understanding and coordinating funding allocations and interventions for diverse student needs.

Teaching and Learning Oversight

  • Involvement in a limited teaching capacity.
  • Supervising the work of Teaching and Integration Aides.
