About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Help Desk Technician to join our team at the State of Colorado. As a key member of our Information Technology (IT) unit, you will provide exceptional technical support to our end-users, ensuring they receive timely and effective assistance with their IT-related issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level technical support to end-users via phone, email, chat, or ticket system
  • Troubleshoot basic technical problems, including hardware, software, network connectivity, and printer issues
  • Log support requests and document customer interactions, issues reported, and resolutions in a ticketing system
  • Escalate complex issues to higher-level support teams when necessary
  • Provide guidance and training to end-users on how to properly use software and hardware
  • Assist with password resets and account management
  • Update and maintain knowledge base to help streamline future issue resolution
  • Monitor system performance and proactively detect issues
  • Install and configure software and hardware

Requirements

  • Three years of professional experience providing computer-related technical support as the main function of your job
  • Associates degree from an accredited institution in information technology, computer information systems, or a closely related field and one year of professional experience providing computer-related technical support as the main function of your job
  • Technical support experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis
  • Training or certification in a subject matter directly related to the position will substitute for one year of the degree requirement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing technical support beyond the required one year
  • Extensive experience servicing hardware and software
  • CompTIA A+ certification
  • Knowledge of ITIL v3
  • Experience using multimedia conversion software in a professional setting
  • Knowledge of Windows Active Directory
  • Advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge and experience using Adobe Acrobat Professional
