Lead Operations Supervisor at Saint-Gobain Research North America is on the lookout for a skilled and proactive Supervisor to join our Facilities team.

This role entails overseeing the operational support functions within the Facilities Operations and Maintenance department of a premier R&D facility.

The selected candidate will enhance the experience of stakeholders by ensuring timely and budget-compliant fulfillment of customer requirements while adhering to all relevant company policies and local, state, and federal regulations.

Additionally, the individual will engage in preventative maintenance, operational efficiency, environmental health and safety (EHS) initiatives, 5S practices, sustainability efforts, and other key projects as necessary.

The ideal applicant is a seasoned Maintenance Supervisor with a proven track record in managing complex industrial or technical operations, ideally within a laboratory or research environment.

This position will manage a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to guarantee that all essential maintenance tasks are executed on building operating systems. The candidate will utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document and analyze equipment performance and lifecycle, leveraging data to optimize both in-house and contractor labor efficiency while developing budgets for expenses and capital replacements.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead or support projects for internal customers: Understand the needs of stakeholders regarding space and equipment.
  • Facilitate the department's preventive maintenance and on-demand work order request system; identify maintenance and repair issues, propose actionable solutions, and prepare work orders with cost implications, sustainability considerations, and energy efficiency.
  • Ensure customers are kept informed throughout the work order process.
  • Oversee or assist with campus enhancement projects: Collaborate with the Facilities Manager and other operational teams to lead or support initiatives related to 5S, sustainability, security, and EHS.
  • Establish and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Innovate and implement new systems and processes to reduce operational costs and enhance efficiency.

Facility Maintenance and CMMS Management:
  • Proactively manage routine and non-routine infrastructure maintenance and repairs, including grounds upkeep.
  • Coordinate equipment and material movements on-site and to off-site storage. Assist with conference room setups and troubleshoot audio-visual issues.
  • Contribute to 24/7 on-call coverage for all responsibilities of the Facility Group.
  • Address emergency situations promptly, assess impacts, diagnose issues, determine corrective actions, secure necessary parts/materials, coordinate work, and communicate with site leadership throughout the emergency.
  • Perform any additional facility-related tasks as directed by the department manager.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or Associate's Degree with a minimum of 5+ years of experience, Bachelor's Degree with at least 5+ years of experience, or Master's Degree with 2+ years of experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Facilities Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a demanding EHS environment.
  • 5+ years of familiarity with building, fire, life safety codes, and facility environmental regulations.
  • Preferred: Massachusetts Construction Supervisors license (unrestricted).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools and working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying information clearly and respectfully to all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated project development and management skills, including organization, attention to detail, multitasking, record-keeping, and adaptability.
  • Experience collaborating with external contractors and agencies to coordinate critical project work within regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and present findings in various formats to different organizational levels.
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of managing team performance and expectations, including the development of team members.
