Role Number:
The Camera & Photos Labs Infrastructure team is in search of a detail-oriented and results-focused lab engineer.

We oversee a comprehensive array of Apple devices utilized for both automated and manual testing systems, which are essential for quality assurance and development processes for iOS and macOS.

This role offers the chance to engage with cutting-edge Apple hardware and software.

Your responsibilities will include supporting lab devices and creating automation tools to enhance the management and expansion of our device fleet.

Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking a proactive and service-driven individual who thrives in an infrastructure-focused environment. You should enjoy managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic setting that encourages growth, collaboration, and innovation.

Your daily tasks will involve:

  • Overseeing a large inventory of iOS/macOS devices and accessories across various labs
  • Ensuring the availability and functionality of devices and systems for testing
  • Provisioning and deploying both released and unreleased hardware
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing hardware/software issues
  • Creating scripts and automation for machine configuration and software deployment
  • Assisting engineering teams in system debugging
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficiency in shell scripting or Python
- Familiarity with Ansible or similar configuration management tools
- Knowledge of Git or other version control systems
- Experience in administering and troubleshooting macOS and iOS
- Strong communication skills are essential due to extensive interaction with engineering teams, management, and other departments within Apple.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with RESTful services
- Understanding of PostgreSQL or relational databases
- Core knowledge of LAN network infrastructure
- Familiarity with standard data center infrastructure (HVAC, power distribution, PDUs/UPSes, rack types and capacities, etc.)
- Experience in fast-paced engineering environments.
Compensation & Benefits:
At Apple, base pay is just one component of our total compensation package, which is determined within a specified range. This structure allows for growth as you develop within your role. The base pay range for this position is between $117,832 and $205,500 annually, and your specific pay will be based on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.

Employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
