Compensation:

Starting salary of $55,000.00

Position Summary:

The Community Resource Specialist will collaborate with law enforcement personnel to provide assistance and connect individuals with essential community services, enhancing public safety and overall well-being. This role involves participating in ride-alongs, responding to incidents, and offering guidance on social service matters without conducting assessments or direct therapy.

A Day in the Life of a Community Resource Specialist:

  • Accompany police officers to understand community needs and operational procedures
  • Offer immediate support and advice to officers regarding social service matters
  • Link individuals to community resources such as housing, healthcare, and mental health services
  • Facilitate referrals and ensure smooth transitions to community organizations
  • Work with officers to devise strategies for addressing community issues
  • Engage in police briefings, meetings, and training sessions
  • Keep accurate records of interactions and referrals made

Work Environment:

This position requires work in various environments, including police vehicles, stations, and community settings. The role may involve exposure to challenging or distressing situations. The schedule is flexible and may include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field
  • Experience in community-based environments
  • Strong understanding of community resources and social services
  • Ability to function effectively in high-pressure situations
  • Familiarity with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
  • Commitment to confidentiality and discretion

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience working with diverse populations, including marginalized groups
  • Knowledge of law enforcement protocols and procedures
  • Certification in crisis intervention or similar fields
  • Completion of criminal background checks and fingerprinting
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Possession of an insured vehicle
  • A minimum of three years of driving experience with a valid driver's license
