Compensation:

Starting salary of $55,000.00

Position Summary:

The Embedded Social Worker will collaborate with law enforcement personnel to provide assistance and connect individuals with essential community resources, enhancing public safety and well-being. This role involves participating in ride-alongs, responding to calls, and offering guidance on social service-related matters. It does not typically include assessments or direct therapeutic services.

A Day in the Life of an Embedded Social Worker:

  • Accompany police officers to understand community needs and police operations
  • Provide immediate support and guidance to officers on social service-related matters
  • Connect individuals with community resources, including housing, healthcare, and mental health services
  • Facilitate referrals and ensure smooth transitions to community agencies
  • Work with officers to devise strategies for addressing community issues
  • Participate in police briefings, meetings, and training sessions
  • Maintain accurate documentation of interactions and referrals

Work Environment:

Work will take place in various settings, including police vehicles, stations, and community locations. The role may involve exposure to traumatic or distressing situations. The schedule is flexible and may include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field
  • Experience in community-based settings
  • Strong understanding of community resources and social services
  • Ability to function in high-stress environments
  • Familiarity with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience working with diverse populations, including marginalized communities
  • Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and protocols
  • Certification in crisis intervention or related fields
  • Completion of criminal background check and fingerprinting
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Possess an insured vehicle
  • At least three years of driving experience with a valid driver's license
