Compensation:
Starting salary of $55,000.00
Position Summary:
The Embedded Social Worker will collaborate with law enforcement personnel to provide assistance and connect individuals with essential community resources, enhancing public safety and overall well-being. This role involves participating in ride-alongs, responding to various calls, and offering guidance on social service-related matters. Direct assessments or therapy are not included in this position.
A Day in the Life of an Embedded Social Worker:
- Accompany police officers to understand community needs and law enforcement operations
- Offer immediate support and advice to officers on social service-related matters
- Link individuals to community resources, including housing, healthcare, and mental health services
- Facilitate referrals and ensure smooth transitions to community agencies
- Work with officers to devise strategies for addressing community issues
- Engage in police briefings, meetings, and training sessions
- Keep accurate records of interactions and referrals made
Work Environment:
Work will take place in various settings, including police vehicles, stations, and community locations. Exposure to traumatic or distressing situations may occur. The schedule is flexible and may include evenings and weekends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field
- Experience in community-based settings
- Strong understanding of community resources and social services
- Ability to function in high-stress environments
- Familiarity with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and discretion
