Compensation:
Starting at $55,000.00
Position Summary:
The Embedded Social Worker collaborates with law enforcement personnel to offer support and connect individuals with essential community resources, thereby enhancing public safety and well-being. This role involves participating in ride-alongs, responding to calls, and providing insights on social service-related matters. Direct assessments or therapy are not included in this position.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Accompany police officers to understand community needs and police operations
- Offer immediate support and guidance to officers regarding social service-related issues
- Link individuals to community resources, including housing, healthcare, and mental health services
- Facilitate referrals and ensure smooth transitions to community agencies
- Work alongside officers to devise strategies for addressing community concerns
- Engage in police briefings, meetings, and training sessions
- Maintain accurate documentation of interactions and referrals
Work Environment:
Work will occur in various settings, including police vehicles, stations, and community locations. The role may involve exposure to traumatic or distressing situations. The schedule is flexible and may include evenings and weekends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field
- Experience in community-based settings
- Strong knowledge of community resources and social services
- Ability to function in high-stress environments
- Familiarity with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
- Commitment to confidentiality and discretion
Additional Requirements:
- Experience working with diverse populations, including marginalized communities
- Understanding of law enforcement procedures and protocols
- Certification in crisis intervention or related areas
- Completion of criminal background check and fingerprinting
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Possess an insured vehicle
- At least three years of driving experience with a valid driver's license
