Position Title: Engagement Specialist

Employment Type: Full Time | Night Shift

Compensation: ** $15/hour **

Organization: Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is actively seeking dedicated Engagement Specialists for our outreach efforts at Faith Mission, a prominent homeless shelter in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome all volunteers, residents, and potential residents with professionalism and warmth.
  • Facilitate communication and provide essential supplies to residents regarding shelter services, including bed assignments and personal care items.
  • Assist new residents in completing necessary intake documentation.
  • Verify shelter eligibility by checking identification and relevant documentation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the shelter, including dormitories, common areas, and kitchens.
  • Change bedding in dorms as needed and ensure weekly sanitation protocols are followed.
  • Conduct inspections of personal belongings entering or leaving the facility.
  • Ensure that prohibited items do not enter the premises.
  • Securely manage client medications, both prescription and over-the-counter, in accordance with established protocols.
  • Adhere to procedures for recording and dispensing medications appropriately.
  • Enforce shelter rules and supervise residents in completing daily responsibilities.
  • Monitor and enforce curfews and daily schedules.
  • Report any issues or concerns to the Shelter Services Manager or designated on-call manager.
  • Maintain communication with the Shelter Services Manager regarding resident statuses and any emergencies through appropriate documentation.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Experience working with homeless or special needs populations is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules as needed.
