Position Title: Engagement Specialist

Organization: Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is actively seeking dedicated Engagement Specialists for our esteemed program in Fairfield County. This program serves as a crucial resource for individuals experiencing homelessness, offering meals and shelter with dignity and compassion.

The ideal candidate will embody Our Mission: Creating a better world by serving people in need.

Key Responsibilities of the Engagement Specialist:

  • Welcome all volunteers, residents, and potential residents in a courteous and supportive manner.
  • Distribute essential information and supplies to residents, including bed assignments, linens, and personal care items.
  • Assist with the completion of intake documentation for new residents.
  • Verify eligibility for shelter services by checking identification and relevant lists.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the shelter, including dormitories, common areas, and facilities.
  • Change bedding in dorms as needed and on a regular schedule.
  • Conduct inspections of personal belongings entering or exiting the facility.
  • Ensure that prohibited or hazardous items do not enter the premises.
  • Securely manage client medications in accordance with established protocols.
  • Uphold shelter rules and expectations, supervising daily tasks assigned to residents.
  • Enforce curfews and ensure timely wake-up calls.
  • Report any issues or concerns to the Shelter Services Manager or designated on-call manager.
  • Document and communicate resident-related information and emergencies through logs and reports.

Qualifications for the Engagement Specialist Role:

  • A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Experience working with homeless or special needs populations is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with diverse groups effectively.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules as necessary.
