Position Overview

New Horizons Mental Health Services, a respected non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the mental health and wellness of individuals and families, is looking for full-time Peer Recovery Supporters in the Lancaster area.

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Peer Recovery Supporter will engage with clients by leveraging their personal experiences with substance use and mental health recovery. This role is crucial in empowering participants with Serious Mental Disorders (SMD) through encouragement and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a positive and hopeful environment, providing feedback and ideas to aid in recovery.
  • Assist clients in accessing services by tracking appointments, conducting outreach, and managing necessary documentation.
  • Deliver direct peer support services, including coordination and monitoring, both in the community and via phone.
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating effective recovery techniques, such as coping strategies and decision-making skills.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Strong organizational skills and a compassionate, non-judgmental attitude towards diverse cultural beliefs are also required.
