Job Summary

Sound Transit is seeking a highly skilled Corridor Design Manager - Systems to join our team. As a key member of our Design, Engineering, and Construction Management (DECM) Department, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the activities for the systems engineering elements of major light rail corridor projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage complex transit-related systems engineering design for network and radio communications, train control and signals, traction power and overhead catenaries, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and Fire Life Safety Systems.
  • Administration and management of engineering Consultant contracts including peer reviews, design reviews, contract packaging, schedules, budgets, construction support, and risk assessments.
  • Supervise the Consultant day-to-day activities and support the Consultant in the coordination of work with other Sound Transit staff.
  • Prepare and present staff reports and other necessary correspondence.
  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.
  • Eight years of experience in engineering design and construction that includes significant experience with project and contracts management experience, preferably in a rail or transit-related environment.
  • A Professional Engineer license issued by the State of Washington.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in a hybrid office and field environment. Positions working in field may occasionally be exposed to dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, physical harm, hazardous chemicals, and/or extreme noise.
