Job Overview

We are currently in search of a highly skilled Lead Environmental Planner/Scientist to enhance our dynamic team in Texas. The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical foundation and demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, ensuring responsiveness to client needs. Experience in fostering client relationships and developing staff is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected individual will play a crucial role within the Texas office, contributing to the leadership team. Responsibilities include:

  • Guiding the growth of our environmental professionals through mentorship and effective staff management.
  • Leading environmental initiatives across various projects, from initial planning stages to construction.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to identify opportunities for client engagement and project development.
  • Applying comprehensive knowledge of Texas and federal environmental regulations, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Clean Water Act (CWA).

Qualifications:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 20 years of relevant experience in environmental compliance, with consideration for candidates with significant related experience.
  • Proficiency in preparing environmental documentation, conducting traffic noise modeling, wetland delineations, and navigating the permitting process.
  • Demonstrated business development skills and experience in client communication and coordination.
  • Experience in mentoring and managing team members.
  • Ability to develop and oversee project scopes, schedules, and budget estimates.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively across multiple offices.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
  • A positive attitude and a collaborative spirit as both a leader and team member.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and the adoption of innovative technologies.
  • Knowledge of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Environmental Management System is a plus.
