CIVIL ENGINEERING SPECIALIST POSITION

Holtec International is in search of a Civil Engineering Specialist to support the oversight of construction initiatives at various Nuclear Power Plants throughout the United States.


Key Responsibilities:
The Civil Engineering Specialist will report to both the Civil Engineering Manager and the Construction Program Manager.

In addition to providing support to both departments, the specialist will be accountable for, but not limited to, the following tasks:

• Deliver engineering assistance for projects at different phases of design, estimation, and construction.

• Collaborate with Estimators to analyze proposal specifications and drawings to define the scope of work and necessary components of the estimate.

• Aid Estimators by performing a comprehensive takeoff of the scope of work.

• Review and integrate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc., into unit and man-hour estimates.

• Assist in the development of bid packages.

• Contribute to the preparation of procedural documentation.

• Support Construction Managers/Project Managers in the formulation and upkeep of construction schedules.

• Maintain construction documentation and logs.

• Receive, review, forward, and monitor the status of submittals and change orders.

• Initiate, prepare, review, track, and distribute Requests for Information (RFIs).

• Update construction schedules based on input from the project team.

• Monitor and inspect material deliveries.

• Assist in the creation of monthly project status reports for owners.

• Attend project meetings and document meeting minutes.

• Support project close-out activities.

Qualifications/Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management and have 1 to 10 years of relevant experience.

• Familiarity with civil construction elements: concrete, rebar, soils, underground utilities, drainage, etc.

• Willingness to travel over 50% of the time for assignments, following a training and acclimation period.

• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Experience with Primavera and AutoCAD is preferred but not mandatory.
