Role Summary:
The Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC) at Stanford University is a prominent research institution focused on critical issues at the crossroads of science, social science, technology, and global security. Through impactful research, education, and collaboration with policymakers, CISAC aims to foster knowledge that contributes to a safer world.

CISAC is seeking candidates for the position of Lecturer in International Security, emphasizing public policy. The role is open to various disciplinary backgrounds, with candidates expected to possess interest or experience in policy and expertise in one or more of the following key research areas:
international security, nuclear security, deterrence and conflict prevention, digital security, biosecurity, and environmental security.

The Lecturer will be expected to:

1. Design, teach, and update two to three courses annually on international security and public policy at the undergraduate or master's level, tailored to meet CISAC's educational requirements.
2. Conduct policy-relevant research on international security, both independently and in collaboration with fellow scholars.
3. Mentor postdoctoral fellows and Stanford students engaged in related research.
4. Collaborate closely with Center Directors and other faculty members to enhance the study of security and public policy at Stanford University.

The initial appointment is for two years, with the possibility of extension based on the Center's needs and funding availability. Candidates will be appointed at a lecturer rank commensurate with their qualifications and experience, accompanied by a competitive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications:
Applicants should have a background in international security issues, demonstrating analytical and policy-relevant research capabilities in areas such as nuclear security, digital security, biosecurity, and environmental security. A PhD or terminal degree in a relevant social science, law, history, science, or engineering discipline is required.

Ideal candidates will possess:
1. A strong publication record or evidence of significant potential in research and teaching.
2. Well-developed analytical skills and the ability to create and manage independent research programs, courses, and outreach initiatives.
3. Experience in teaching undergraduate courses is advantageous.

Compensation:
The expected base salary range for this position is $110,000-$130,000 annually. This range reflects Stanford University's good faith estimate of what it reasonably expects to pay for the role. The final salary will be determined based on various factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and departmental budget availability.
