Senior Lecturer - Job Overview


The Department of Aeronautics at Physics World is in search of a committed and innovative Senior Lecturer to contribute to the development and instruction of both undergraduate and graduate courses within the department.

This position will be appointed at the Senior Lecturer level.

The role of Senior Lecturer is a full-time (12-month) engagement with an initial term of up to 5 years, which may be renewed in subsequent years.


Key Responsibilities:


The main duty of this role will be to teach undergraduate courses in the Aeronautics curriculum, with opportunities to instruct graduate courses as well.

The selected candidate is expected to deliver a minimum of 5 quarter courses annually.


This position aims to enhance existing courses and create new ones as necessary, likely incorporating substantial hands-on and project-oriented content along with in-class demonstrations.


Engage in committees focused on curriculum design, pedagogical strategies, teaching resources, and the overall success of the Aeronautics undergraduate program.

Promote effective teaching practices among faculty and lecturers.

Participate in the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) summer initiative.

Guide undergraduate students in navigating the Aeronautics curriculum and fulfilling graduation requirements.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned, reporting to the Department Chair of Aeronautics.

Qualifications:


All applicants must possess a Master's degree or higher in disciplines such as Aeronautics, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering field.

Candidates should have extensive knowledge of fundamental application areas in Aeronautics (including aerodynamics, propulsion, structures, guidance, navigation & control, autonomy, space mechanics, remote sensing, vehicle design, manufacturing, etc.) along with system-level interactions and practical applications.

A strong commitment to and proven excellence in teaching is essential. Previous experience in developing and integrating various components of an undergraduate curriculum is preferred.

Work Standards:
Exhibit the ability to create and deliver curriculum in the aerospace sector with a focus on excellence and quality.

Demonstrate the capacity to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external organizations.


Adhere to all relevant organizational policies and procedures, including but not limited to personnel policies and other guidelines.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $147,518 - $180,765.


Physics World has provided a salary range representing its good faith estimate of what the organization reasonably expects to pay for the position.
