Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Other: Completion of an 11-month EEG training program or 6 months of on-the-job training Required

Experience: No prior experience required beyond the basic educational qualifications.

Licenses and Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Job Summary: The EEG Technician is responsible for performing both standard and advanced electroencephalographic (EEG) procedures, including:

  • Conducting EEGs by measuring the patient's head using the International 10-20 Placement System and applying electrodes accordingly. This includes measuring electrode impedance, calibrating, and adjusting the EEG machine to obtain optimal recordings.
  • Maintaining equipment and managing inventory of supplies, ensuring timely reordering and reporting any major repair needs to Clinical Engineering.
  • Recording clinical responses to various stimuli and recognizing any signal changes due to external factors, implementing alternative methods as necessary.
  • Providing appropriate patient care and detailed observations during clinical events such as seizures.
  • Summarizing patient neurologic status and clinical history, and explaining recording procedures to patients and their families.
  • Performing comprehensive analysis of EEG data using advanced techniques.
