Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled Facility Operations Manager to become a vital member of our Insourcing Solutions division.

In this role, you will serve as the main liaison for the facility, applying established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality assurance protocols to manage and coordinate daily operations within diverse animal care settings, including staff scheduling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the animal monitoring program and all husbandry-related activities, including technical and cage washing support.
  • Ensure quality assurance by overseeing animal health monitoring, evaluating facility sanitation, cage washing, and autoclaving processes, as well as inspecting incoming animal shipments for integrity and health.
  • Conduct essential technical functions in accordance with research protocols, including daily health assessments and preliminary examinations of ill animals before consulting with the Clinical Veterinarian.
  • Engage in the recruitment process for open positions, contribute to performance improvement strategies, and prepare employee evaluations.
  • Assist in the assessment, development, and delivery of training programs for staff and researchers.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities, ensuring the development, implementation, and compliance with corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Occasionally provide technical assistance, such as animal restraint, blood collection, tissue sampling, administering treatments, surgical preparation, and supporting research procedures.
  • Occasionally perform animal husbandry and provide environmental enrichment.
  • Manage data entry and generate reports for computerized systems that monitor internal environmental conditions, security, and other facility management requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain written records, charts, logs, and inventories.
  • Collaborate with Project Officers, facility veterinarians, and researchers to address customer inquiries and resolve issues.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are essential for the Facility Operations Manager role:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in animal science or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a research vivarium facility, including at least two years in a supervisory capacity and one year of experience in an ABSL-2 environment.
  • AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technologist level (LATG) is required.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $44.00 to $45.00 USD per hour. Please note that compensation may vary within this range based on factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
