Position Summary

We are looking for a qualified Facility Operations Manager to become an integral part of our Insourcing Solutions division.

In this role, you will serve as the main liaison for the facility, applying established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality assurance protocols to manage and coordinate daily operations within various animal care settings, including staff scheduling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the animal monitoring program and all husbandry-related activities, including technical support and cage sanitation.
  • Ensure quality assurance through animal health monitoring, evaluating sanitation effectiveness, and inspecting incoming animal shipments for health and integrity.
  • Conduct technical tasks as required by research protocols, including daily health assessments and preliminary examinations of ill animals.
  • Engage in the recruitment process for new hires, develop performance enhancement plans, and conduct employee evaluations.
  • Assist in the design and delivery of training programs for staff and researchers.
  • Participate in quality control and assurance activities, ensuring compliance with corrective and preventive action (CAPA) protocols.
  • Occasionally provide technical assistance, including animal restraint, sample collection, and support during research procedures.
  • Occasionally engage in animal husbandry and enrichment activities.
  • Manage data entry and generate reports for computerized systems monitoring facility conditions and compliance.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records, charts, logs, and inventories.
  • Collaborate with project officers, veterinarians, and researchers to address inquiries and resolve issues.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are essential for the Facility Operations Manager role:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in animal science or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a research vivarium, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity and 1 year in an ABSL-2 environment.
  • AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technologist level (LATG) is required.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is between $44.00 and $45.00 per hour, with variations based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
