Position Overview
The Pharmaceutical Care Specialist plays a vital role within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical services that encompass distribution, clinical consultation, research, and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities
As a Pharmaceutical Care Specialist, you will:

  • Select, compound, manufacture, procure, dispense, and preserve medications and therapeutic agents.
  • Act as a consultant on treatment teams, providing essential drug information to healthcare staff and community groups.
  • Engage in pharmaceutical research and contribute to hospital research initiatives.

Clinical Expertise
Utilize your knowledge of drug solubility, stability, and administration methods to:

  • Evaluate dosages and concentrations, anticipating and managing potential adverse reactions.
  • Ensure accurate interpretation of prescriptions and oversee the dispensing of medications, addressing any concerns regarding drug interactions or overdoses.
  • Stay informed about advancements in pharmacotherapy and emerging trends in pharmacy practice.

Documentation and Training
Maintain meticulous records, document patient information, and prepare reports related to patient care. You may also contribute to educational programs and training sessions.

Regulatory Compliance
Ensure the proper storage and preservation of therapeutic agents in accordance with established standards.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution is required.
Experience: A minimum of 1 to 2 years of relevant experience is required.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Strong judgment and decision-making capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships and build consensus.
  • Proficiency in planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks independently.
  • Knowledge of the impact of patient demographics and concurrent therapies on drug efficacy.

Licenses and Certifications
Registered Pharmacist (RPH) certification is required, along with Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of employment.

Compensation
The starting pay scale for this position is generally set at $104.87 per hour, with final compensation determined by various factors including experience and qualifications.
