Position Overview
The Cardiac Sonography Specialist operates as a vital member of the healthcare team, functioning under the guidance of a supervising physician. This role is essential in delivering diagnostic imaging services that provide critical information for the assessment and treatment of patients. Responsibilities encompass performing diagnostic ultrasound services across various clinical areas, including stress echocardiograms. The specialist's duties are carried out in alignment with their education, training, and the established protocols of the facility.

The Cardiac Sonography Specialist is responsible for ensuring that imaging equipment is consistently operational and prepared for immediate use. They maintain accurate records and reports related to equipment, procedures conducted, and billing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to C-I-CARE standards to deliver exceptional service and patient care.
  • Utilize C-I-CARE templates for effective communication with patients and colleagues.
  • Engage with patients respectfully, using their preferred names.
  • Introduce yourself and clarify your role in their care.
  • Clearly communicate the procedures, duration, and impact on the patient.
  • Seek patient consent before initiating examinations or procedures.
  • Respond promptly to patient inquiries and anticipate their needs.
  • Exit the interaction courteously, explaining the next steps.
  • Patient Care
  • Prepare the examination area and ultrasound equipment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Ensure patient safety throughout the sonographic examination.
  • Review patient medical histories and relevant clinical information.
  • Verify that examination orders are complete and medically necessary.
  • Assess any contradictions or patient readiness for the examination.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, considering their understanding.
  • Utilize appropriate positioning tools and ergonomic techniques to ensure patient comfort and safety.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and perform diagnostic sonography as directed by the supervising physician.
