Your Role: As a Construction Engineering Technician, you will engage in essential geotechnical assessments and observations. Your responsibilities will include conducting soil and concrete tests, which are vital for the success of our engineering projects.

Compensation: $18 - $25 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing geotechnical projects, including design calculations and recommendations.
  • Oversee drilling operations and document soil borings.
  • Classify soil types and coordinate laboratory testing.
  • Conduct tests on soils, foundations, and various concrete types.
  • Perform quality assurance tasks for deep foundations.
  • Utilize GPS equipment for boring layout.
  • Execute floor flatness testing.
  • Prepare detailed daily field reports with relevant photographs and sketches.
  • Conduct hand augering to gather subsurface information and soil samples.
  • Observe and document construction activities, particularly foundation installation techniques.
  • Interpret engineering and construction plans.
  • Communicate regularly with project team members, including contractors and project managers.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to work outdoors and engage in hands-on tasks.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and reliable transportation for job site access.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Physically capable of meeting the demands of construction sites, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Preferred qualifications include coursework in civil engineering or related fields, ACI Level 1 Certification, and APNGA Training.
