Position Overview

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is a well-established firm with over a century of experience, dedicated to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

We are on the lookout for a seasoned Geotechnical Engineer or Structural Geologist with a strong background in rock mechanics and slope stability assessments. This role involves conducting subsurface investigations and crafting design strategies for significant civil engineering projects across various sectors, including Transportation, Municipal Water/Wastewater, and Industrial Site Development. Candidates with diverse expertise may also be integrated into other relevant design initiatives. While primarily an office-based role, candidates should be prepared for occasional fieldwork throughout their career.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct and manage subsurface explorations, identifying key structural geological features.
  • Assess slope stability for both soil and rock formations.
  • Connect the site's structural geology to proposed construction plans.
  • Formulate design recommendations based on analysis.
  • Draft comprehensive reports detailing findings and recommendations.
  • Effectively communicate analysis results to the design team through presentations and reports.
  • Travel to project sites as required.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Structural Geology.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficiency in Kinematic analysis and interpreting great circles and pole plots.
  • Experience with Rock Science software, including Swedge and RocTopple.
  • Ability to tailor designs to meet the needs of municipal clients and design-build contractors.
  • Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist certification is preferred.
Desired Skills:
  • General knowledge in geotechnical engineering, hydrogeology, foundation design, and geological image analysis.
