Position OverviewThe Lead Human Resources Specialist plays a pivotal role in collaboration with the HR Leader to execute a diverse range of HR functions, which may encompass:
- Administration of employee benefits and management of performance and compensation systems.
- Recruitment and staffing initiatives, fostering employee relations, and the implementation of organizational policies and procedures.
- Providing guidance and coaching to leadership and staff on various personnel matters, including performance management, career progression, diversity initiatives, and compliance with workplace regulations.
- Facilitating communication and interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
- Managing termination processes and addressing corrective action matters.
- Conducting exit interviews with departing employees.
- Carrying out investigations related to workplace issues, ensuring adherence to legal standards.
- Interpreting and ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
- Assisting in the administration of the compensation framework, including the annual performance review process.
- Communicating and explaining benefits policies and updates to employees.
- Educating staff about their benefits and coordinating open enrollment activities, including meetings and paperwork management.
- Collaborating with third-party providers to resolve complex employee benefit inquiries.
- Managing leave of absence requests, including FMLA, workers' compensation, and short-term/long-term disability processes.
- Supporting managers in identifying staffing needs for open positions.
- Utilizing various sourcing methods to identify candidates from both internal and external channels.
- Overseeing the onboarding process for new hires.
- Assessing training requirements and coordinating with relevant resources to develop or deliver training programs.
- Providing coaching for employee development.
- Ensuring timely submission and processing of employee data through HRIS systems.
- Compiling statistical reports for departmental or regulatory purposes.
- Collaborating closely with the payroll department.
- Promoting and upholding the organization's mission, values, and culture.
- Recommending innovative approaches, policies, and procedures to enhance departmental efficiency and service delivery.
- Creating presentation materials as needed.
- Working in partnership with management across all levels.
- Coordinating temporary staffing placements in collaboration with agencies and management.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field with a minimum of 7 years of experience in HR management.
- Preferred background in employment law and compliance regulations.
- Ability to provide objective coaching to employees and management through complex and sensitive issues.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Capability to make informed recommendations to effectively resolve issues in line with established standards and regulations.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- Experience in coaching and developing less experienced HR professionals.
- In-depth knowledge of HR administration principles and practices.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in various software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, ADP).
- MS Office proficiency is required.
- HRIS experience is preferred.
- SPHR or PHR certification is a plus.
