Polar Field Services, Inc. Seeks Seasonal Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Maintenance Tech

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Maintenance Tech to join our team at our research station in Greenland. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of vehicles and equipment, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair motorized vehicles, power generation equipment, and facilities at our research station
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including fueling operations and inventory management
  • Monitor and maintain facilities, including electrical, plumbing, and heating systems
  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on safety and efficiency
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience repairing and maintaining tracked heavy-duty equipment
  • 5+ years of experience repairing and maintaining facilities, including welding and fabrication experience
  • Experience maintaining and operating power generation equipment
  • Proficiency with diagnostic software, tools, and techniques
  • Ability to drive a truck, snowmobile, and other polar vehicles
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including standing for long periods of time, working in confined spaces, and enduring extreme temperatures

We are a rare company that has been taking our clients wherever they need to go, no matter how remote the location or challenging the conditions may be. We plan their expeditions, keep them safe in places that are anything but, and supply food, shelter, power, water, and waste removal. We then return the site to such a pristine condition no one would ever know we were there.

We are looking for a skilled and experienced technician who can fix just about anything with a motor, including snowmobiles, power generation equipment, and Tucker and Caterpillar vehicles. Using computerized diagnostic software, you will inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair the machines that our team relies on. You will also perform fueling operations for our station and the Air.

A jack-of-all-trades, you will monitor and maintain facilities at the research station, handling minor electrical, plumbing, and heating issues onsite. When a storm hits and the power goes out, you will be the hero who gets our facilities up and running again.

This is a seasonal, on-location position in Greenland, with seasons running from approximately May - August. The daily schedule varies but typically consists of 9-hour days, 6 days per week. This seasonal job has a 54-hour workweek and may work varied schedules of up to 12+ hours per day.
