Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Substance Abuse Program Coordinator to join our team at the City of Louisville, KY. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive drug and alcohol abuse program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and develop inmate substance abuse counseling programs
  • Conduct intake interviews to assess inmate needs for treatment
  • Provide individual and group counseling to educate and assist inmates in recognizing and understanding the nature of the problem
  • Coordinate in-house meetings, activities, and workshops to facilitate inmate recovery and provide information on available services and programs
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment and recovery plans and recruit and oversee program volunteers
  • Consult with law enforcement agencies to determine inmate legal status and develop discharge plans
  • Collaborate with community treatment programs and recovery facilities to determine inmate placement and ensure continuity of care after release
  • Prepare reports to document findings, recommendations, and inmate progress
  • Participate in case conferences with healthcare professionals to discuss inmate care and progress
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in counseling, criminal justice, human or social services, or nursing
  • Two years of in-patient or inmate alcohol and drug counseling experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
