Job Overview

Project Canary is a pioneering climate technology firm dedicated to providing an enterprise data platform that empowers energy companies to enhance and transparently report their emissions impact. Our innovative approach involves developing high-precision sensors, integrating data from diverse technologies and sources, and utilizing proprietary analytics and models to generate actionable insights for operators to mitigate emissions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and implement cloud infrastructure that is secure, scalable, and highly available on AWS.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineering teams to establish infrastructure and deployment specifications.
  • Provision, configure, and sustain AWS cloud infrastructure as defined by code.
  • Ensure compliance and configuration management through effective tools.
  • Administer and resolve issues within Linux-based systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems across various services and functional domains.
  • Develop and maintain operational tools for deployment, monitoring, and analysis of AWS infrastructure and systems.
  • Conduct infrastructure cost assessments and optimization strategies.
Required Skills and Experience

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in deploying and managing PostgreSQL databases within distributed systems.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in constructing and maintaining AWS infrastructure (ECS/Fargate, EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudWatch).
  • In-depth understanding of securing AWS environments and adhering to compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in Python, Ansible, and deploying applications on AWS in a Linux setting.
  • Ability to quickly learn and utilize a variety of open-source technologies and tools.
  • Strong sense of initiative and ownership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a startup environment is highly advantageous.
  • A genuine interest in related fields such as software development, front-end engineering, security, or project management.
  • Familiarity with AWS Serverless Application Model (SAM) Templates or Terraform.
  • Experience with TimescaleDB and PgBouncer.
  • Knowledge of New Relic.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
