Position Summary

The Maya Angelou Public Charter School is in search of a committed Residential Counselor to provide essential support for our students in a residential setting. In this role, you will oversee the well-being of students who require additional assistance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Foster a secure and encouraging atmosphere to facilitate positive growth among students.
  • Implement structured routines to cultivate constructive habits and accountability.
  • Participate in campus meetings and engage with the broader Maya Angelou community.
  • Work alongside the Director of Residential Programs to monitor and assess student development.
  • Plan and facilitate group activities and educational workshops.
  • Provide individualized and group support to enhance students' academic and decision-making abilities.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the residential facility.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, families, and educational staff regarding student progress.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Prior experience working with at-risk youth is preferred.
  • Dedication to engaging with adolescents on a daily basis.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license for transportation purposes.
  • Experience in developing relationships with families and educational personnel.
