Role Responsibilities
The Mathematics Educator will be tasked with teaching various mathematics subjects, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II/Trigonometry, Probability & Statistics, and foundational math skills. This role will also involve working alongside a special education teacher to support students with specific learning or emotional needs, ensuring they receive tailored instruction to thrive.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Creating and executing unit plans and assessments that align with Common Core standards and the school's curricular framework.
- Implementing age-appropriate and culturally responsive teaching methods in mathematics.
- Designing differentiated learning materials and plans for diverse learners in a small classroom setting.
- Managing administrative tasks with professionalism and integrity, ensuring timely submission of all deliverables.
- Participating in interdisciplinary team meetings focused on student success.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education or a related subject area (required).
- Certification by OSSE in the relevant content area (must be obtained within one year of employment).
- Experience working with justice-involved or opportunity youth (preferred).
- Familiarity with evidence-based instructional strategies.
Site Overview
The educational program operates within an adult correctional facility, serving young adults aged 18-22 who have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
