Role Summary
The IT Specialist will be an integral part of our technology team, assisting the Director of Information Technology in the upkeep and enhancement of our technological framework across all campuses. This role requires a solid foundation in technical skills and a proven track record in helpdesk support to effectively assist students, staff, and partners in an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students.
- Provide support across various campuses as needed.
- Offer both in-person and remote technical support.
- Document and track all helpdesk inquiries and maintain comprehensive records.
- Address and resolve IT support tickets promptly.
- Engage with users to confirm resolution satisfaction.
- Prepare classrooms with necessary technology for the academic year.
- Manage both on-premises infrastructure and cloud-based solutions.
- Oversee Chromebook management, including syncing and repairs.
- Escalate complex issues related to network and server management.
- Maintain and service various technological devices.
- Ensure organized cabling in all workspaces.
- Administer software updates and security patches.
- Facilitate resolutions for escalated technical issues.
- Regularly report on operational metrics to supervisors.
- Collaborate with fellow IT Specialists to maintain consistent operations.
- Coordinate with external contractors for specific technology projects.
- Support logistics for significant technology-dependent events.
- Contribute to the development of a dynamic IT knowledge base.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11, Azure Cloud, and Windows Server.
- Familiarity with IT helpdesk systems and user issue documentation.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS, and Print Management.
- Strong customer service skills and adaptability in a team environment.
- Experience in maintaining computer hardware and educational technology.
- Understanding of IT cycles in educational settings.
- Experience with VOIP systems.
Educational Background
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or a related discipline (required).
- At least 3 years of experience in an IT department, preferably in an educational context (preferred).
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+ and Security+ (required).
