The Coalitions Communications Advisor collaborates with the Communications team to design and implement a proactive, culturally aware engagement strategy aimed at Spanish-speaking Latino, Asian American and Pacific Islander, Black, Native American, and LGBTQ+ media outlets. This position is responsible for overseeing the Democratic National Committee's (DNC) initiatives to effectively communicate the Democratic agenda to these communities while ensuring accountability for Republican actions. Key tasks include shaping media coverage, identifying opportunities to enhance the visibility of the DNC's efforts, and leading a dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with the Communications team to create and execute strategic media outreach plans targeting coalitions and develop paid media initiatives;
  • Establish and nurture ongoing relationships with coalition media outlets and journalists, facilitating the pitching and shaping of news coverage;
  • Coordinate with other communications team members to identify and secure surrogates and validators for various media interviews;
  • Manage special projects, campaign rollouts, and messaging events;
  • Identify innovative opportunities to elevate the DNC's initiatives and meet messaging objectives;
  • Oversee the quality and distribution of written materials, ensuring clarity from drafting to delivery;
  • Assist in organizing press events in collaboration with the Political and Coalitions teams;
  • Monitor current events and identify strategic opportunities to promote the DNC's messaging goals;
  • Perform additional duties as required to support the department and advance the DNC's mission.
Qualifications:
  • Commitment to core Democratic principles;
  • A minimum of 5-7 years or 3 election cycles of relevant experience in media relations;
  • Experience working with various constituency media types;
  • Exceptional writing and research capabilities;
  • A passion for teamwork and team management;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to foster relationships across all organizational levels;
  • Cultural awareness and a dedication to enhancing cross-cultural skills and understanding.
