This position is responsible for overseeing the DNC's initiatives to convey the Democratic agenda to these communities while ensuring accountability for Republican actions. Key responsibilities include pitching stories, shaping media coverage, identifying opportunities to enhance the DNC's visibility, and leading a dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with the Communications team to formulate and execute strategic media outreach plans tailored for coalitions and paid media initiatives;
  • Establish and nurture ongoing relationships with coalition media outlets and journalists, facilitating effective story pitching and coverage shaping;
  • Coordinate with team members to identify and secure surrogates and validators for various media interviews across TV, radio, and print;
  • Manage special projects, strategic rollouts, and messaging events;
  • Identify innovative opportunities to elevate the DNC's initiatives and fulfill messaging objectives;
  • Oversee the quality and distribution of written materials, ensuring excellence from drafting to delivery;
  • Assist in organizing press events in collaboration with the Political and Coalitions teams;
  • Monitor current events and leverage opportunities to promote the DNC's messaging goals;
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the department and advance the DNC's mission.
Qualifications:
  • Commitment to core Democratic principles;
  • A minimum of 5-7 years or 3 election cycles of relevant experience in media relations;
  • Experience engaging with various constituency media;
  • Exceptional writing and research capabilities;
  • A passion for teamwork and team management;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to cultivate relationships across all organizational levels;
  • Cultural awareness and a dedication to fostering cross-cultural competencies.

The DNC provides a comprehensive benefits package, which includes:
