Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Sous Chef plays a pivotal role in overseeing the daily functions of our culinary operations, including the selection of ingredients and the management of kitchen staff. A minimum of two years in a fast-paced dining environment is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a focus on guest satisfaction while executing duties. Ensure exceptional service across all areas.
  • Address guest concerns promptly, taking necessary actions to transform dissatisfied patrons into loyal customers.
  • Monitor operational expenses to ensure alignment with budgetary guidelines.
  • Assist the Executive Chef in managing payroll expenses in accordance with annual financial plans.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of budgetary constraints and strive to meet profit expectations.
  • Delegate responsibilities for inventory procurement and verify accuracy upon delivery.
  • Conduct monthly inventory assessments and adjust pricing as needed.
  • Adhere to company standards and service expectations to enhance sales while minimizing costs, including those related to food, beverages, supplies, utilities, and labor.
  • Implement sanitary practices for food preparation, cleanliness, and upkeep of kitchen and dining spaces.
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Uphold a professional appearance, including adherence to cleanliness and uniform standards.
  • Establish security protocols to safeguard team members, guests, and company resources.
  • Promote a safe working environment to mitigate risks of injury and accidents.
  • Complete incident reports promptly in the event of any injuries to guests or staff.
  • Manage shifts effectively, which includes decision-making, scheduling, attendance tracking, and maintaining service quality and cleanliness.
  • Assist in the recruitment process, ensuring an accurate staffing plan with qualified individuals.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of departmental policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all food policies and procedures as outlined by the company.
  • Maintain high product quality and foster positive guest relations within the culinary space. Investigate and resolve any issues related to food quality and service.
  • Foster a positive work culture among line-level staff and across various departments.
  • Conduct effective pre-shift meetings on a daily basis.
  • Communicate, train, and support staff in customer service, operational procedures, and problem-solving.
  • Guide, communicate, and manage in alignment with the Core Values of DeRomo's Gourmet Market.
