Job Overview

DeRomo's Gourmet Market is seeking a seasoned Operations Supervisor to join our dynamic team. Our market is a vibrant, upscale gourmet destination that specializes in high-quality Italian products. Picture a quaint village in Tuscany, and you will find the essence of DeRomo's Gourmet Market. We take pride in offering a variety of freshly baked Italian delicacies, house-made specialties such as mozzarella and sausage, and a diverse selection of imported and organic goods from around the globe. Our store features specialized sections including meat, seafood, prepared foods, deli, olive bar, produce, pizza, bakery, coffee bar, cheese, and an extensive wine selection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support market departments (particularly wine, cheese, deli, and pizza) in achieving organizational goals and maintaining performance standards for profitable revenue.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, including but not limited to forecasting, profit/loss statements, product margins, and inventory management.
  • Collaborate with the Market General Manager to monitor and manage labor and other controllable expenses within budgetary constraints.
  • Direct inventory management, product assortment, and merchandising standards.
  • Assess product needs and develop training programs to ensure staff effectively communicate food knowledge to customers.
  • Monitor key performance indicators as directed by the Director of Operations and the Market General Manager to enhance overall customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure the market is properly opened and closed, maintaining cleanliness and organization in all areas.
  • Manage the market with attention to detail, ensuring cleanliness, repairs, and customer care are prioritized.
  • Maintain product quality and foster positive guest relations within the market.
  • Facilitate effective floor flow and product rotation, including merchandising and inventory management.
  • Establish and nurture a positive workplace culture among staff and across all market departments.
  • Conduct daily pre-shift meetings to ensure effective communication.
  • Support the training and development of market staff in customer service, operational procedures, and problem-solving.
  • Uphold the Core Values of DeRomo's Gourmet Market and Restaurant in all interactions.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in retail grocery management.
  • Preferred experience in deli and pizza operations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
