Position Overview

As a Mobility Solutions Planner, you will be an integral part of our dynamic team at Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. (VHB), contributing to innovative transportation strategies and planning initiatives. This role is designed for experienced professionals who are passionate about enhancing community mobility and transportation systems.

Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of experts to create effective transportation and mobility planning solutions for various projects.
  • Conduct comprehensive multi-modal transportation assessments to evaluate current and future mobility needs.
  • Analyze transportation data, community demographics, and statistics to inform planning decisions.
  • Prepare detailed studies on transportation impacts, corridor enhancements, and intersection improvements.
  • Perform safety evaluations and develop actionable recommendations based on findings.
  • Create conceptual designs for roadways, intersections, and pathways for pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Engage in discussions with clients, partners, and stakeholders to ensure project alignment and success.
  • Draft technical reports and present analytical results to clients and stakeholders.
  • Manage projects or lead specific tasks within small to mid-sized initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A robust background in traffic planning, engineering, and traffic modeling.
  • Proficient in applying transportation planning methodologies and practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple projects.
  • Self-driven, organized, and detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and strategic problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional writing skills for proposals and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard software tools (e.g., CAD, GIS, HCS, Synchro, Vissim).

Educational Background
  • Bachelor's degree in planning or a related discipline (e.g., Urban Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering).
  • Master's degree is preferred and may substitute for one year of experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in transportation planning is required.
  • Certification as an AICP is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with relevant software tools is preferred.
