Key Responsibilities:


Conducts services and functions within designated areas where intricate pharmaceutical processes necessitate the application of advanced skills and expertise that surpass those typically required in pharmacy technician positions.

Primarily operates in non-traditional settings, focusing on remote medication histories.
Acts as a specialist with equipment and technology in the designated area. Resolves technical challenges as they arise. Ensures that documentation and records are precise and completed in a timely manner.
Recognizes opportunities for quality enhancement based on specialized expertise to guarantee safe, effective, and efficient services and patient care. Contributes to and supports the execution of operational modifications, advancements, and standardization across sites and systems. Engages in specialized work teams, committees, and councils at the site or system level.
Adheres to legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards. Remains updated with developments in the specialized field and collaborates with department leadership to implement best practices. Holds peers accountable to established best practices in the specialized domain.
Serves as a resource in the specialized area for fellow pharmacy team members, physicians, nurses, and ancillary departments. Addresses complex issues and ensures that problems are escalated and resolved as necessary.
Collaborates with department leaders to design and coordinate team member education, training, orientation, and competency assessments. Provides training to other team members in the specialized area.
Acts as the department liaison to system pharmacy teams in the specialty area. Works with leadership to communicate updates in the specialty area.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, or
Pharmacy Technician Certified (CPhT) from the National Healthcare Association.
Licensure in the state where medication history services are provided.

Education Required:
High School Diploma.

Experience Required:
Typically necessitates 5 years of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy technician role, depending on the specialty area.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Strong mathematical skills.
Attention to detail.
Effective communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Exceptional customer service, problem-solving, and process development capabilities.
Basic computer proficiency.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulder height throughout the workday.

Ability to lift up to 35 lbs from floor to chest level; lift and carry up to 35 lbs at waist height a reasonable distance; push/pull with 30 lbs of force.
