Job Overview

We are a dynamic healthcare facility focused on the management and treatment of renal conditions. Our clientele consists of individuals who are newly diagnosed with kidney ailments, as well as those undergoing long-term dialysis therapy. We are seeking a Clinical Support Specialist to deliver professional patient care in an outpatient setting under the guidance of three healthcare providers and the practice administrator. This role may involve direct collaboration with a specific provider or provide support across various teams of medical assistants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcoming patients, gathering medical histories, and inputting data into the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  • Measuring patient vitals and documenting comprehensive medical histories, including surgical, family, social histories, problem lists, and current medications.
  • Administering basic patient care as directed and assisting healthcare providers during patient evaluations.
  • Meticulously recording all interventions, patient and family responses, prescribed medications, and other relevant information in the medical records.
  • Ensuring timely receipt and incorporation of test results ordered by providers into the electronic health record (EHR) and communicating these results to both providers and patients.
  • Coordinating referrals, scheduling diagnostic tests, and managing prior authorizations and pre-certifications as necessary.
  • Monitoring the accuracy of patient medical records and maintaining all essential reports and documentation.
  • Promptly addressing inquiries from patients and pharmacies regarding appointments and prescriptions.
  • Handling communications from hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities, relaying pertinent information to the healthcare team efficiently.
  • May assist in scheduling patient appointments as per physician directives and ensuring accurate communication with patients.
  • Exhibiting sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy while promoting wellness through patient education materials and timely communication of provider instructions.
  • Maintaining an adequate supply of medical materials and ensuring all equipment is well-kept and functional.
  • Upholding a clean and sanitary workspace.
  • Utilizing various office and medical equipment, including telephones, computers, faxes, stethoscopes, blood pressure monitors, scales, and thermometers.
  • Training and orienting other assigned personnel as needed.
  • Maintaining confidentiality regarding practice, patient, and employee matters.
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication skills, teamwork ability, attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills are vital for success in this role.
  • Capability to establish and maintain professional relationships with physicians, patients, and their families while presenting a positive image of the practice.
  • Prior experience in a medical setting is required.
  • At least three professional references, including two from supervisors or managers, are mandatory.
  • All candidates will undergo a background check and screening prior to employment.
