Job Summary:

The Department Head is responsible for driving sales and profit growth in the store by delivering exceptional customer experiences and leading a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the sales and profit planning process, working closely with the visual merchandising team to maximize sales and revenue.
  • Collaborate with the store management team to ensure seamless store operations, adherence to company standards, and effective scheduling to drive conversion and commercial activities.
  • Develop and implement action plans with the team to drive sales growth, ensure the implementation of commercial strategies, and maintain a high level of customer service.
  • Coach and develop team members to ensure they meet customer service standards, provide regular feedback, and execute development plans to improve performance.
  • Participate in executing store routines and tasks, including delivery truck management, garment processing, reductions, department moves, and price changes.
  • Identify and mitigate loss, ensuring the department adheres to safety and security guidelines.
  • Provide input to the store manager and area teams on allocation and replenishment to ensure garment levels align with sales trends and inform the store manager of potential risks, threats, and opportunities related to the competitor landscape.
People and Teams:
  • Manage the recruitment, training, development, and succession planning process for the department team, ensuring alignment with company best practices.
  • Evaluate and manage the performance of team members, providing regular feedback, executing development plans, and taking actions to improve performance and develop the team.
  • Communicate business performance, company culture, and training focuses to the store team through daily meetings and participating in weekly leadership meetings.
  • Ensure health and safety, legal, and security issues are handled in accordance with company standards and local laws, prioritizing employee and customer safety.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including time-off requests, pay, conducting terminations and corrective actions, and making employment decisions.
Requirements:
  • Be inclusive, positive, creative, and willing to learn on the job.

  • Be a multi-tasker who thrives in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Have 1-2+ years of transferable experience.
  • Be able to lift in excess of 20 pounds.
  • Have the ability to coach and counsel staff on management and progressive discipline techniques.
  • Be able to stand for long periods, bend, stretch, engage in repetitive motions, push, pull, and carry items for a short distance.
  • Be able to climb a ladder and use a step stool.
  • Have open availability, including evenings and weekends.
  • Be willing to travel to support other stores and for training.
