About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Writing Support Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing guidance and resources to students in need of writing assistance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Writing Center, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for students and tutors alike.
  • Provide varied guiding support for the work of tutoring personnel and assigned student workers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Tutor students in writing, utilizing expertise in English and composition to help them achieve their academic goals.
  • Conduct orientation sessions for classes, ensuring students are well-prepared for their writing assignments.
  • Develop and maintain resources for midterm and final exam preparation, helping students stay on track and achieve success.
  • Assist in the selection and maintenance of materials and equipment, ensuring the Writing Center remains a valuable and effective resource.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain the orderliness of the Writing Center, creating a welcoming and productive space for students and tutors.
  • Aid in coordinating scheduling, coverage, and duties of Center, Peer Tutoring, and Tutoring on Demand (TOD) platform for Writing Center representation.
  • Aid in coordinating Center and office hours for both East and West Campuses and hours for Tutoring on Demand (TOD) platform.
  • Aid in performing tasks related to tracking, data collection, and reporting, utilizing student information systems (SIS) such as Banner and EAB.
  • Serve on assigned committees and task forces, contributing to the growth and development of the Writing Center.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in English (Writing/Composition) or related field.
  • 1 year of experience in Teaching/Tutoring or equivalent experience.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $29,569 to $42,000, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and major medical insurance, group life insurance, participation in the Georgia Teachers' Retirement System, Optional Retirement Plan (Faculty and exempt employees only), Social Security, and Tuition Assistance Program after six months of employment.
