Position Overview
AECOM is seeking a Traffic Operations Center Supervisor in Ocoee, Florida, specifically at the Florida's Turnpike Enterprise Traffic Management Center (TMC).

The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge in Freeway Operations and Control Room functions, showcasing a commitment to continuous improvement through evaluation methods and practical experience, including the department's TMC operations certifications.

This role will involve assisting TMC Shift Supervisors with special projects, training initiatives, and event coordination.

Key Responsibilities:
Under limited supervision, the Traffic Operations Center Supervisor will perform both straightforward and complex tasks, including:
  • Leading workflow coordination.
  • Monitoring roadways to detect, confirm, and respond to traffic events and congestion using Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) devices.
  • Acting as an emergency dispatcher within a control room, utilizing a two-way radio system to deploy Road Rangers for motorist assistance and timely responses to incidents.
  • Communicating with management and project leads to provide operational updates and address needs within the control room.
  • Supporting the development and upkeep of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Assisting in the creation of presentations, technical documents, and studies.
  • Representing the Transportation Management Center in internal and external meetings.
  • Reviewing operational activities for accuracy and providing feedback to staff.
  • Mentoring new hires and existing staff on policies and procedures.
  • Assuming leadership responsibilities in the absence of supervisors.
  • Contributing to after-action reports for significant incidents.
  • Engaging in special assignments and reporting tasks.
  • Facilitating special event planning and execution.
  • Supporting recruitment, selection, onboarding, and training processes for new candidates.
  • Advising on TMC outreach efforts within the community.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to TMC staff in their assignments.
  • Monitoring performance metrics to drive operational improvements.
  • Developing and updating training resources.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
+ High School Diploma or GED Equivalent + 2+ years of experience as a Traffic Monitoring Operator or relevant field experience.
+ Ability to synthesize information from diverse and simultaneous inputs.
+ Successful completion of state and federal background checks, including fingerprint screening.
+ Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while monitoring systems.
+ Proficient in operating computers and monitoring equipment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's degree or higher in a related field; or practical experience in a similar role; 1 year of leadership experience; background in traffic management or emergency services.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with strong communication skills.
  • Experience in mentoring and evaluating personnel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and audio/visual equipment.

Additional Information:
This position does not offer sponsorship for U.S. work authorization or relocation benefits. It is an onsite role, not remote. Compensation will be based on location and qualifications, with an expected range of $22.00/hour - $25.00/hour.
