Position Overview

AECOM is seeking a Traffic Operations Center Supervisor in Florida. The selected candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge in Freeway Operations and Control Room activities, demonstrated through ongoing professional development and practical experience, including relevant certifications. This role involves supporting Shift Supervisors with specialized projects, training, and event coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform tasks with limited supervision, ranging from straightforward to complex.
  • Lead workflow coordination efforts.
  • Monitor roadways using Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to detect and respond to traffic events and congestion.
  • Act as an emergency dispatcher, coordinating assistance for motorists and responding to various incidents.
  • Communicate effectively with management and team members to provide updates and solutions.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Participate in the creation of presentations and technical documentation.
  • Represent the Transportation Management Center in meetings.
  • Review operational activities for accuracy and provide guidance to staff.
  • Mentor new hires and existing staff on procedures and policies.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of supervisors.
  • Contribute to after-action reports for significant incidents.
  • Engage in special assignments and tasks as required.
  • Support special event planning and execution.
  • Facilitate recruitment and training processes for new employees.
  • Advise on community outreach initiatives related to TMC operations.
  • Provide leadership and direction to team members.
  • Monitor performance metrics to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develop and update training resources.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in traffic monitoring or related fields.
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources.
  • Successful completion of background checks and drug screening.
  • Capability to remain stationary for extended periods while monitoring systems.
  • Proficient in operating computers and monitoring equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or higher in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in a leadership role within traffic management or emergency services.
  • Ability to perform calmly under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills for various formats.
  • Experience in mentoring and evaluating staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and related technologies.
