Job Description

The Building People is seeking a skilled Records Management Specialist to support the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The successful candidate will work with the Enterprise Services Division to execute their records management plan, ensuring the efficient management of records across the Rural Development Mission Area.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the Central File Unit, which supports records management activities at the National Office.
  • Sorting, filing, tracking inventory, scanning, and preparing records for shipment to the National Archives Records Administration or a Federal Records Center.
  • Providing guidance to RD programs on customer requirements, regulations, and laws, while advising on best methods for sound records management.
  • Analyzing, reviewing, and revising records management operations, including creating inventories and spreadsheets.
  • Scanning records with proper disposition and disposing of eligible records following USDA and RD instructions, as well as NARA regulations and laws.
  • Creating and facilitating records transfers to the FRC and NARA, listing proper records series and disposition authority.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Three (3) years' experience in records management.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
  • Strong analytical and attention to detail.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Knowledge of records management processes and laws, as set forth by NARA.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
